I may have lost interest in this website, but not in the base issues at hand. Here is a recent 3 minute public comment that encapsulates the core issue(s).

Who: Just me, Bob Richardson. This has nothing to do with any group of which I may be a member except this JCCEGov.org group. I could use your help.

What: This site is intended to serve as a JCC Citizen's source of detailed information on particular controversial topics that you may read about in the Virginia Gazette or other local papers, as well as see discussed at public comment periods in front of the Board of Supervisors (BOS) and/or Planning Commission (PC). I will draw a lot of my concern and material from the James City County Board of Supervisors' Code of Ethics (COE), which I feel is being ignored and will come under attack by the Republican majority on the BOS. The COE can be found here.

Why: 1) I'm tired of the unethical manner in which JCC County Government operates. Specifically our current Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission and to a lesser extent other Boards, Commissions and Committees appointed by our current Board of Supervisors.
2) I'm tired of citizens being ignored and the BOS barging forward on particular interests that will cost me and other taxpayers/ratepayers money and lead to a degradation in the quality of life in James City County.
3) Businesses (Developers in this case) have the upper hand in Virginia, especially if the citizens do not involve themselves in local politics. Get involved, make a difference.

New appointments to Planning Commission Needed.
12/9/08 Public Comment requesting replacement of the unethical appointments to the Planning Commission whose terms expire in January be replaced by citizens that want to serve not because of political motives but because of desire to help citizens and the James City Community. • 10/28/08 Board of Supervisors Public Comment #1 - Code of Ethics being abandonded, Chairman Goodson, moves to abolish the JCC Code of Ethics. NEW
• 10/28/08 Board of Supervisors Public Comment #2 - Virginia Conflict of Interest statutes weak and thus the need for a JCC Code of Ethics NEW

  • Goodson & Henderson position on Zoning and Development detailed in this article. Goodson indicates citizens want more development and less regulation! Henderson quoted to say: "to strictly interpret the zoning ordinance would be an example of government interfering with contractual relations between homeowners and the developer." Seems as if Zoning Regulations are being twisted to meet the needs of the developer at the direction of the Republican Supervisors and their appointee on the Planning Commission - Chris Henderson.
• Newport News Water Purchase Agreement - PDA. Ratepayers money being spent so the few can water their lawns with drinking water!
  • 03/25/08 BOS Public Comment pleading for further research and public disclosure of PDA contract and our actual water needs and the alternatives.
  • 8/7/08 New Reports indicate King William Reservoir not needed. Newport News water demand decreasing and water surplus building. Is JCC buying surplus water at inflated rates? This is exactly why I pleaded with JCC BOS to hold off on PDA contract and investigate the alternatives in March.

• Mr. Chris Henderson - Commercial Developer / Commercial Real Estate Broker, Stands to benefit from additional commercial development of JCC at the expense of citizen's quality of life (traffic, greenspace, pollution, environment etc.) Appointed to James City County Planning Commission after large campaign contributions put Republicans in the majority on the Board of Supervisors. Past Chairman of the James City County Republican Committee.
